Explore Avoca

Wander remote bush tracks and discover hidden waterfalls, rugged landscapes and spectacular views when exploring the Pyrenees State Forest, just 10km from town.

Avoca’s wide main street is a delight to explore with hotels, cafés, gift shops, galleries and collectables all housed in historic buildings dating back to the 1850s. Avoca’s heritage listed Railway station has been transformed into a gallery that exhibits both local and regional artists. Across the tracks, you can find The Avoca Silo which displays the first glow-in-the-dark artwork along the Australian Silo Art Trail … and possibly the world!

Avoca has many small businesses servicing the local community including a pub, several cafes, a chemist, convenience store, a butcher, a supermarket, its own newspaper (Pyrenees Advocate) and a community bank. Since the 1970s, the wine industry has grown to be one of the most significant economic drivers and the sector is now the largest employer in the region and has increased tourism. Farming is the second largest employer of the town.

We invite you to enjoy a change of pace and embrace the country life of Avoca.
