Watford House. The sudden influx of people to the town resulted in an acute accommodation shortage. Sent from Hamburg in numbered planks, Watford House (1856) was shipped to Geelong, then transported across Victoria and assembled in the main street as accommodation for the Avoca Hotel. It was sold 20 years later and hauled down the hill to its current site.
